Fourth of July Spectacular

What is a better way to celebrate our nations freedom then spending the day by the Bear River?!
There was tubing the river, eating delicious food and spending time with wonderful people. Matching socks not required!

Tell me this doesn't look like the MOST delicious food ever!

Cooking is all business. Rick was making jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Manna from heaven!

The tubing ended up being a huge disaster. People couldn't get out of the river at the designated area, being swept further down stream and one person even had a run in with a moose. The water was deeper and colder than expected, dunking people right under. This little boy is laughing, many others were not. However I thought all of it was hilarious!

Missed the stop!

Fearing his mother will be attacked my a ravenous moose. (Those tears were not in vein, it almost happened!)

Not the happy smiles we saw pre-tubing

Having fun is exhausting

She worked very hard to fill this whole pipe with rocks

Clean up is a group effort

Nothing says you love America like face paint

Just a little specialty we brought called a fountain!

Its hard to get good pictures of fireworks, but the City of Evanston put on a fantastic firework show, probably the best I have seen in the last quarter of a century. The final firework of the program literally took up the entire sky. It was phenomenal! If any of you haven't been to Evanston for the fourth, you are definitely missing out!. Also it is fun to see the pure chaos of every family in the world lighting off fireworks. It was like a war zone and by the end there was so much smoke in the air you could barely see the moon. Happy Birthday America!

Bring On The Races

Here are some races that have been going on this summer. Lets start with the Evanston Triathlon. This was my fourth consecutive year completing the race and I improved my time by a whole minute from last year. This is particularly impressive due to the fact is was raining SO hard the entire time. Kevin's pants kept falling off on the run because they were drenched with water. My clothes were wetter from biking than had I jumped into the pool! It was crazy cold and yet delightful!
The gang rocking our First Place trophies. Never mind that I was the only person in my division, I still got first with a plaque to prove it!

Next we have the Bear Lake century and half century bike ride regata (put on by Kevin Deiber himself.) Some of the crazy fools rode from Evanston to Bear Lake and around the lake. The other people (like me) with more common sense did the half century around the lake. It was followed by a barbecue and sailing. Now it was a huge rain storm so the crazy people attempted this trip (not me) and Kevins boat tipped over instantly!

And just recently I participated in the Teton Dam races, instead of a 1/2 marathon I figured the 10K was a more realistic goal for me. I did great seeming as half the run was straight up hill! Just working on those calves.

Summer Equinox

You always hear that on the Equinox you can balance an egg on its ends. Well here is the Deiber family hard at work showing how it is done!

Brother with the first standing egg of the season. It must be that great hair!

This photo makes it look like my left eye is not securely attached to my head!

Father and I cheated a little by giving the egg texture on a paper towel. Which reminds me, I never have tried this NOT on the equinox. I bet it's all a big trick!

Unveiling

Look who came out of the back yard tent for the first time in 3 years! The sun just can't stop shining on those chrome strips! This 1970 GT+ triumph is a German car. Adorable? Yes! Reliable? Works about 20% of the time, so you be the judge!
